A little inspiration.

Sunglass Envy

1 Jun

I’m going to complain for a bit.

I wear glasses. That’s fine, except when I find sunglasses I like. I have to go through this whole big prescription ordeal in order to wear them. It’s kind of frustrating.

Instead of going through this ordeal, I choose to be uppity and post pictures of sunglasses that I like.

Designing an Outfit

31 May

When I first come up with an outfit, the idea I have in my head usually doesn’t translate into a total deal. In this section, I’ll describe how I go from the idea I have in my head to the final product.

In my head, the outfit I had in mind looked like this:

(Yes, I know the military jacket is a little old and la la la la. But, I saw a military-inspired vest in H&M the other day. That’s my justification.)
It’s okay, but the colours are kind of block-y, and the outfit doesn’t really flow.
So.
I added a necklace and a few bracelets to break up the blocks of colour.

It kind of worked, but the outfit still didn’t flow well. My next idea was to add patterned tights and partially button the jacket.
This turned out to be the final outfit:

TADA!
I feel like this would be suitable for a semi-formal dinner or some such.

Dress, Harmony
Jacket, Forever 21
Tights, Modcloth
Shoes, Thrifted

What do you think?

A little inspiration.

Reused: Part One of Three

24 May

I was rummaging around my parents’ house, and I found a bunch of my bodysuits from when I did gymnastics:

I had a master plan to incorporate my bodysuits into outfits. APPARENTLY this is very difficult to do. So, instead of getting super frustrated and running into a wall, I figured I’d split up each outfit into an individual post.

The first bodysuit I used is this one:

I’m kind of amazed I used to wear this all the time. It smells like bar chalk.
Also equipped with wedgie-preventing slit at the back.

Theeen, I came up with this:
Dress, H&M
Heart Necklace, Diva
Chain Necklace, Stitches
Bracelet, Thrifted
Shoes, Thrifted

I think I can do better. We’ll see how the next one goes.
What do you think?

I kind of really like clogs

20 May

In all of the outfits I’ve seen, the models looked super confident. It almost seems necessary to make up for the shoe being so clunky. Whatever, I like them anyways. Here’s my take on the clog:

Are you for or against the clog? Do you find the clunky-ness endearing or annoying?

Your Parents Probably Aren’t Zooey Deschanel’s Parents

18 May

When 500 Days of Summer came out, I immediately fell in love with it. Everything about it just seemed so appealing and interesting. I especially loved Zooey Deschanel. I thought she was perfect, basically. For a while, I tried so hard to be like her. I used different make up techniques, different styles of dress, different hair styles, all to look like perfect Zooey Deschanel.

But, I’m never going to look like Zooey Deschanel. Why? Because her mother did not give birth to me. My mother did. Save for doing some major plastic surgery, I cannot amend this.

But there’s nothing wrong with that. My mother gave me a perfectly good body of my own that is beautiful, just as Zooey Deschanel is. The same is true for anyone else.

Your parents probably aren’t Zooey Deschanel’s parents, but you’re lovely anyways.
